A native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Courtney Carballido received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 1990. Prior to RISD, she attended Louisiana State University for three years where she studied sculpture, interior architecture, graphic design and jewelry. Additionally, she studied with New York’s Parsons - The New School - program in the Ivory Coast, West Africa where she honed her skills in  photography, metalsmithing and ceramics. At Parsons-Rome, she studied museum architecture and photography. And at The Institute of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, she learned about printmaking and metalsmithing
in jewelry.

Back in the states, she worked as a graphic designer at Random House in New York before opening
her own design studio in New Orleans. There, she flourished for over a decade under the name
Courtney Weidie Design.

In 2001, she moved to The Hague, Netherlands where she worked independently for four years on painting and photography at the De Vrije Art Academy. After living and continuing her work in Perth, Western Australia for 10 years, she is now based in the US Southeast.
